Rare Axel Hasselstrøm of Denmark cast brass door knocker in great vintage condition! No known flaws. May need cleaning and polishing as it may have an aged finish and some antiquing. Please see pictures and use zoom feature to enlarge. HEAVY for its size! Weights of each door knocker varies. Hanging hardware NOT included. Own a piece of Danish European history!

    Description

    RARE Vintage Axel Hasselstrøm
    Solid Cast Brass Door Knocker
    MADE IN DENMARK
    New Old Stock with original Danish tags.
    This quality door knocker was manufactured in the 1970s by
    the vintage Danish brass Maker Axel Hasselstrøm A/S.
    It is made out of solid, high quality heavy Danish-made brass.
    This is not the lightweight, thin, low-quality brass that comes
    from places like India, China, Mexico and Pakistan.
    See the Danish flag tag that says "Messing"
    Messing is Danish for brass.
    Door knocker has an aged brass finish with some antiquing to it.
    Features a man carrying a large bag or sack over his shoulder.
    There is a banner over him with lettering inside.
    I do not know what it says.
    After looking at several of these door knockers, the best
    I can decipher the letters, they look to me like they say:
    MET. PEVEEV. DYE. WEERELT. 1667
    Approximate Measurements:
    5.75 Inches Tall
    About 4-3/4 Inches Wide, at widest points
    and
    about 1-1/4 Inches deep or thick
    HEAVY FOR ITS SIZE! Weights vary per piece.
    The two pictures show weighs of 1 LB 9.5 ounces
    and 1 LB 12.4 Ounces, UNPACKED!
    Has two holes on mounting bracket. MOUNTING SCREWS NOT INCLUDED.
    I would recommend using appropriately long brass screws to support
    the weight of the door knocker.

    What a find!
    Imported from Denmark directly by my parents, who were importers.
    I will be listing multiple door knockers that were found inside a
    wooden crate with their original Danish plastic bags and tags on them.
    I removed the plastic bags to take detailed pictures.
