    Description

    Up for auction is an original hand carved 1973 Washington quarter hobo nickel by artist Andrew Shamakin depicting Don Quixote. Don Quixote of La Mancha is a character in a novel by author Miguel De Cervantes depicting adventures of a noble chivalric knight-errant who goes on a quest, with his recruited squire side kick Sancho Panza, to revive chivalry and serve his nation. In the background of the coin image you can see a windmill to the left and Quixote's side kick to the right riding a donkey.
    I am the original owner and won this hobo nickel a few years prior during auction. The item has been stored in archival intercept shield anticorrosive binders since initial purchase.
