You are looking at a beautiful American Flyer accessory from 1952-53. While this accessory was made from 1952 through 1953, THIS one was released in 1953 as the date on the box flap is 5/53.
This is one of those fantastic wooden buildings made of presswood by MiniCraft for American Flyer. These buildings look fantastic on the layout--the more the better.
The CONDITION of this one is FANTASTIC. The patina is strong. The paint is strong. The back Chiclets sign shows some wear (as they all do). The Harbor Junction sign is a little bit soft on the edges. There is a larger barrel on the platform (vintage but not original to this accessory). The small silver barrels are original to thi piece.  On the underside, the Flyer label has come off, but you can see how beautiful it is all the way around. If you look hard, you can see some layout residue along some of the edges of the platform, but you have to be looking for it. There is a hole drilled on one corner of the platform.
Aside from the larger barrel, everything here is original.
It is hard to find this complete AND clean.
The BOX
is nice with good stamping. Box was opened from the bottom. One side flap has a small square of cardboard missing. The box is in overall very good to excellent shape. The BOX does show signs of handling.
They really did put some nice detail into these--check out the scale, and the ridges on the brown presswood base--just like slats of wood.
This is one of those items any collector would be proud to have. It is clean and strong all the way around.
