The famous wildlife of the Australian Outback is depicted on the Next Generation coins. Each individual species is featured as a mother-child pair, and every year, this illustration warms customers’ hearts. For the first time, buyers and enthusiasts have a modern, one-of-a-kind way to buy silver rooted in the Perth Mint's history as well as a coin that comes in a one-of-a-kind scale and style. The first-ever coin in this series was issued in 2018 and featured a Koala mother and child pair. The following years featured a mother-child duo of a crocodile in 2019 and a Kookaburra in 2020. The Design
This 2-ounce coin is struck with .9999 fine silver, and the Australian government guarantees the face value of 2 AUD. The coin’s reverse face features a mother platypus and her baby swimming together in their underwater habitat. This face also features the “P” mintmark and the initials of “MR,” representing Monique Reeves, the designer of the Platypus illustration.
The obverse remains similar on all of the Next Generation coins. This face features the classic effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. This face also features the inscriptions of “Elizabeth II,” Australia,” “2 oz 9999 Ag,” “2021,” and “2 Dollars.”
This coin has a limited worldwide mintage of 75,000 coins and will surely sell out fast, just as each year has previously.
